Chia Seed Pudding Pot

Great little deserts. Top with ice cream, fruit, seeds, nuts whatever takes your fancy.

 Make the puddings as big or as little as you fancy, the Chia Seeds, keep in mind the Chia seeds double in size when covered with milk. 

 

Chia Seeds, what are they?

Chia seeds are like a sesame seed, but they are actually a herb,.Usually Grown in South and Central America where they have long been part of the  Aztec warriors diet. They have become increasing popular and hipster, being labelled a superfood in recent years. 

Are they really expensive?

I bought this big 1 kg bag in TKMax. The wonders of TKMax! you can find them anywhere, often most expensive in supermarkets and health food shops, look online and in Asian supermarkets/ markets.

 Method

- Pour 1cm of chia seeds into a small glass or bowl, cover with Almond/ Coconut/Oat/ Dairy milk, whichever milk takes your fancy. 

 

- Leave, and watch the magic happen. The Chia seeds evolve and expand into a frog spawn/ jelly like consistency. Don't let this put you off, it is really delicious. This takes a few hours.

 

-  Once expanded and a jelly like consistency, top with what ever takes your fancy. This picture below shows, I went for a spoonful of chocolate ice cream and some chopped strawberries.

 

Other options are mixing in mashed up banana, sprinkling on walnuts, almonds, cashew nuts, blueberries, chopping up any type of fruit; pineapple, melon and mango are my favourites
